Hotaru, a sixteen-year-old first-year high school student, has always had mixed feelings about love and would much rather lead an active life with her friends and family. She therefore has no qualms about offering to share her umbrella when she spots Hananoi-kun, her schoolmate, sitting in the snow following a clumsy, public breakup.
